Bye Bye Silent Hills
Bad news for the fans of the horror video games; Konami has made official that the long-awaited game Silent Hills has been cancelled. What many people had been fearing since a few days ago has finally happened. Konami has confirmed what has been rumored.
It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart - Guillermo del Toro
A few days ago, Konami removed every trace of Hideo Kojima from its websites. If you entered the official website of Silent Hills , you could see the logo of Kojima Productions and the logo of Fox Engine, the engine that would run the game. Now, you can only see the Fox Engine logo. Of course, this fact alerts everybody since the main attractive of Silent Hills was the collaboration between Kojima, Guillermo del Toro and Norman Reedus.
Super bummed about this, was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll come back around. Sorry everyone - Norman Reedus
In addition, it was announced that the playable teaser of Silent Hills, P.T. , will be removed on April 29th. This makes fans ask why, and finally, it was Guillermo del Toro who made it public. He confirmed that Silent Hills will be cancelled by saying that it will not happen, and that it breaks his heart, at the San Francisco Film Society meeting. Norman Reedus has not remained silent, he has complained about the cancellation of the game in his Twitter account. He apologizes to the fans and expresses his sadness about the cancellation. In addition, he expresses that he wants it to come back.
Of course, fans are eagerly wondering why it has happened. The most probable reason is the problems and disagreement of Konami and Kojima. Most of us expected that this would not affect the game, but it has. Presumably, the main reason of disagreement was that Kojima Productions did not want Fox Engine for Silent Hills, and Konami imposed it, so Konami cancelled it. This is not a confirmed fact, but it is the most rumored reason of cancellation.
Well, I have nothing more to say about what fans of the horror genre think is a tragedy. At least, we have the words of Konami about going on with the Silent Hill saga, even though it has no Hideo Kojima, nor Guillermo del Toro, nor Norman Reedus. We hope they do it at least as good as Silent Hills was going to be.
